Important Notes

Important Notes for Injustice 2

Warnings & Pitfalls

#### 1. Irreversible Choices
  • Gear Dismantling: Once gear is dismantled (broken down into parts), it is permanently lost. You cannot reacquire it unless it drops again—and many pieces are randomly generated with unique stat rolls. Always double-check before dismantling gear that might be part of a set bonus or have ideal stats for your build.

  • Source Crystal Purchases: Source Crystals are a premium currency (earned slowly in-game or bought with real money). Spending them on cosmetic unlocks (e.g., shaders, premier skins) is irreversible. You cannot refund them. Worse, some cosmetics can be earned through gameplay (e.g., Legendary Multiverse rewards), so spending crystals on them is a waste.

  • Leveling Up Characters: There is no way to de-level a character. If you’re a completionist, note that all characters start at Level 1 and progress to Level 20 (with a Legendary Level 30 cap later). Leveling is beneficial, but rushing a character you don’t enjoy might leave you with a fully leveled but unplayed fighter.

  • #### 2. Missable Content
  • Limited-Time Multiverse Events: The Multiverse mode rotates events daily and weekly. Many of these events are time-limited and offer unique gear, abilities, or source crystals. If you miss a specific event (e.g., “Batman: Endgame” or holiday-themed), you may never get that exclusive gear again. NetherRealm sometimes recycles events, but not always.

  • Legendary Multiverse (Mother Boxes): Some Legendary Multiverse events require specific tasks (e.g., complete 100,000 Multiverse matches with a character). These are permanent grinds but often overlap with other limited-time events. If you neglect a character’s Legendary goals, you might miss the opportunity to complete them before an event’s deadline.

  • Achievement/Trophy Missables: Several achievements are tied to completing story mode chapters with specific characters without losing a round (e.g., “Complete Chapter 1 without losing a round”). If you lose a round in that chapter, you must restart the entire story mode to try again. No chapter replay exists—you must start a new game file.

  • Gear Sets from Events: Certain gear sets (e.g., “Hellbat” or “Superman’s Rebirth”) are only available during specific Multiverse events. Once the event ends, the gear becomes unobtainable until the event returns (if ever).

  • #### 3. Difficulty Spikes
  • AI Opponents in Multiverse: The AI difficulty scales harshly, especially in “Maximum” or “Legendary” tiers. Opponents can read inputs, block perfectly, and punish weak combo strings. New players often hit a wall around Level 5-8 gear score. Tip: Use the “AI Loadout” feature (set character behavior to “Rushdown” or “Zoning”) to let the AI fight for you—this is legitimate and widely used.

  • Story Mode Boss Fights: Brainiac and some boss fights have unblockable attacks and high damage. If you’re under-leveled (gear score below 10), you may struggle. Grind a few Multiverse matches first.

  • Tower Challenges: Towers with modifiers (e.g., “Random elemental”, “Batman-only gear”) can be brutal if you lack the correct gear. Always check modifiers before entering.

  • Grinding Traps

    #### 1. Endless Mother Box Grinding
  • Trap: Opening hundreds of Bronze Mother Boxes hoping for epic gear. Bronze boxes have a very low epic drop rate (≈1%). You’ll waste hours for minimal gain.

  • Solution: Save coins and gear parts for Platinum or Diamond Mother Boxes (available in the Multiverse store). Focus on completing guild multiverse for higher-tier boxes. Also, use the “Re-roll” option on gear you don’t need before dismantling—you might get a set piece.

  • #### 2. Unfocused Gear Leveling
  • Trap: Leveling all characters equally or constantly switching loadouts. The game encourages specialization.

  • Solution: Pick 2-3 main characters and funnel gear parts (from dismantling unwanted gear) into their specific gear upgrades. Use the “Regen Token” (earned from leveling characters) to improve stat rolls on your best gear.

  • #### 3. Farming Source Crystals
  • Trap: Repeatedly playing story mode or multiverse just to earn source crystals. The rate is extremely slow (~5-10 per hour of play). You’ll burn out.

  • Solution: Only use source crystals for essential unlocks (e.g., premier skins you absolutely cannot earn otherwise). All other cosmetics can eventually be obtained through events or guild credits.

  • Online Etiquette & Anti-Cheat

    #### 1. Online Etiquette
  • No In-Game Chat: Injustice 2 on consoles and PC lacks an in-game voice or text chat. Communication is limited to pre-set messages (e.g., “Good Fight”, “That was close”). Use these sparingly and respectfully. Avoid spamming.

  • Disconnects: If you intentionally disconnect (rage quit) during a ranked match, you will receive a loss and a temporary ban from matchmaking. Repeated offenses may lead to permanent bans.

  • Lag Switching / Modding: Do not use lag switches or third-party mods in online play. NetherRealm uses a robust cheat detection system (on PC) that can flag unusual gear stats or connection patterns. Bans are final.

  • #### 2. Anti-Cheat Notes (PC)
  • Gear Mods: Modding gear stats (e.g., changing abilities) in offline modes is fine, but if you go online with modified gear, you risk a ban. The game checks for data consistency.

  • Sharing Accounts: Account sharing for online play is considered a violation of the EULA. Avoid logging in from multiple IPs quickly.

  • Steam Family Sharing: You can share the game via Steam Family, but online progress may be separate. Don’t assume shared achievements or gear will transfer.

  • Save Management

    #### 1. Manual Backups (PC)
  • Important: The game’s save file (containing gear, levels, guild data) is located in `%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Injustice2\Saved\SaveGames`. Back this folder regularly (especially before major updates or if you plan to uninstall). Corrupted saves can lose hundreds of hours.

  • Cloud Saves: Steam Cloud saves are usually reliable, but they are not infallible. If you play on multiple PCs, sync issues may occur. Always manually verify your save after a cloud conflict.

  • #### 2. Console Save Management
  • PS4/5: You can back up saves to USB or PS Plus cloud. However, trophies are tied to the save file—if you delete the save, you lose all progress toward trophies. Similarly, Xbox saves are stored online; deleting local saves may still keep cloud data.

  • Nintendo Switch: No cloud save option (unless you have a modded system). The only backup is via Nintendo Online subscription (for most games, but Injustice 2 does not support Switch cloud saves). Be extra careful—do not delete the save from system settings.

  • #### 3. What to Avoid
  • Never delete your save while the game is running. This can corrupt the file.

  • Do not modify the save file (e.g., hex editing). While possible, it may make your profile ineligible for online play or cause crashes.

  • Things Players Commonly Regret Not Knowing

  • Aware of Set Bonuses Early: Many players dismantle gear that is part of a set because they don’t see the bonus. Set bonuses (e.g., “Batman’s Cowl + Bracers = +5% damage to villains”) only activate when you equip two or more pieces from the same set. Always check the “Set” icon in the gear inventory screen.

  • Abilities are not just passives: Each character has a special ability slot (e.g., “Catwoman’s Air Grapple”). You can swap abilities in the “Abilities” menu. Some abilities drastically change playstyle—don’t ignore them.

  • Guilds are important: Joining an active guild gives you access to Guild Multiverse events, which offer exclusive gear and large amounts of coins. You also get daily bonuses. Many players regret not joining one early.

  • Story mode chapter select is not chapter select: You cannot replay a single chapter after finishing it. If you want to try for an achievement without losing a round, you must restart the entire story from Chapter 1. Plan accordingly.

  • Source Crystals are better spent on multi-packs: The in-game store offers “Source Crystal Multi-Pack” deals (e.g., 500 crystals for a set of 3 premium skins). Buying a single skin for 400 crystals is less efficient if you plan to collect multiple.

  • AI Loadout is your best friend: In Multiverse, you can fight using AI by setting a loadout to “AI Behavior” and letting the computer play. This is allowed and widely used to grind without playing yourself. Many players wish they had known this earlier to save time.

  • Regen Tokens can re-roll stats: You earn Regen Tokens by leveling characters. They can be used to re-roll the stats on a piece of gear (keeping the name, set, and appearance). This is a great way to fix bad rolls on an otherwise perfect gear piece.

  • Mobile and console progress do NOT sync: The Injustice 2 mobile game is separate. Gear, crystals, and characters do not transfer. Don’t waste time trying to link accounts.

Final Word

Treat Injustice 2 as a long-term game. Avoid rushing through content, hoard gear you might use, and always check event timers. Most regrets come from impatience or ignorance—use this guide to stay ahead.
