All Game Items



This guide covers every major item in Pokémon GO, grouped by category. For each item, we explain its function, how to obtain it, when to use it, and any important synergies or upgrades.

Poké Balls & Capture Items



These are essential for catching wild Pokémon. The higher the tier, the better the catch rate.

#### Poké Ball
  • Effect: Standard catch rate (1x multiplier).

  • Obtain: PokéStops, Gyms, Research tasks, level-up rewards, Shop (free daily box).

  • Use: Common Pokémon, early game, when you have many.

  • Note: No special color or animation.


  • #### Great Ball
  • Effect: 1.5x catch rate multiplier.

  • Obtain: PokéStops (level 12+), Gyms, Research tasks, Shop.

  • Use: Evolution forms, higher CP wild Pokémon, when Poké Balls fail often.

  • Synergy: Use with Razz Berry for even better odds.


  • #### Ultra Ball
  • Effect: 2x catch rate multiplier.

  • Obtain: PokéStops (level 20+), Gyms, Research tasks, Shop (rarely).

  • Use: Rare Pokémon, high CP legendaries, shiny Pokémon you must catch.

  • Tip: Save for Community Day shinies or raid bosses.


  • #### Master Ball
  • Effect: Guaranteed catch (100% catch rate) – extremely rare.

  • Obtain: Limited-time Special Research (e.g., “Let’s GO, Meltan” season). Only a few ever available.

  • Use: Legendaries with very low catch rate (e.g., Galarian Birds that flee often), or your most wanted shiny.

  • Warning: Irreplaceable; use only when absolutely necessary.


  • Berries



    Berries affect wild Pokémon behavior, catch rate, or provide candy bonuses. All are consumed upon use.

    #### Razz Berry
  • Effect: Increases catch rate slightly (1.5x for next throw).

  • Obtain: PokéStops, Gyms, Research tasks, gifts.

  • Use: Any Pokémon you want to catch more reliably, especially high CP or rare ones.


  • #### Nanab Berry
  • Effect: Slows down Pokémon movement, making it less erratic.

  • Obtain: PokéStops, Gyms, Research tasks, gifts.

  • Use: Pokémon that move a lot (e.g., Zubat, Yanma) or during curveball tasks.


  • #### Pinap Berry
  • Effect: Doubles the candy awarded on a successful catch.

  • Obtain: PokéStops, Gyms, Research tasks, gifts.

  • Use: Pokémon you want candy for (evolution, powering up). Best for Community Day or rare spawns you already have.


  • #### Golden Razz Berry
  • Effect: Max catch rate increase (2.5x) and fully restores a Gym defender’s motivation when fed.

  • Obtain: Raid battles (tier 3+), Special Research, GBL rewards.

  • Use: Legendary raids, feeding defenders in Gym to keep motivation high.

  • Tip: Only plentiful after many raids; conserve.


  • #### Silver Pinap Berry
  • Effect: Combines Pinap (double candy) and a catch rate boost (similar to Razz).

  • Obtain: Raid rewards (tier 3+), GBL rewards (rare).

  • Use: Very rare Pokémon where you want both candy and high catch rate.


  • Potions & Revives



    Heal and revive your Pokémon after battles. All are single-use.

    #### Potion
  • Effect: Restores 20 HP.

  • Obtain: PokéStops, Gyms, Research, gifts, level-up rewards.

  • Use: Low HP damage, early game.


  • #### Super Potion
  • Effect: Restores 50 HP.

  • Obtain: PokéStops (level 10+), Gyms, Research, gifts.

  • Use: Medium damage.


  • #### Hyper Potion
  • Effect: Restores 200 HP.

  • Obtain: PokéStops (level 15+), Gyms, Research, gifts, Shop.

  • Use: High HP Pokémon (Blissey, Slaking) after raids or Gym battles.


  • #### Max Potion
  • Effect: Fully restores HP regardless of max HP.

  • Obtain: PokéStops (level 25+), Raids, Research, gifts, Shop.

  • Use: Any fainted or severely damaged Pokémon, especially legendaries.


  • #### Revive
  • Effect: Revives a fainted Pokémon to 50% HP.

  • Obtain: PokéStops, Gyms, Research, gifts, level-up rewards.

  • Use: After any battle where a Pokémon faints.


  • #### Max Revive
  • Effect: Revives a fainted Pokémon to full HP.

  • Obtain: Raid rewards, Research breakthroughs, gifts, Shop.

  • Use: Rare – save for high-level Pokémon fainted in raids.


  • Evolution Items



    Required to evolve certain Pokémon (mostly from Gen 1-4). They are consumed upon evolution.

    #### Sun Stone
  • Effect: Evolves Gloom → Bellossom, Sunkern → Sunflora, Cottonee → Whimsicott, Petilil → Lilligant, Helioptile → Heliolisk.

  • Obtain: PokéStop spins (7-day streak), Research tasks, GBL rewards.


  • #### King's Rock
  • Effect: Evolves Poliwhirl → Politoed, Slowpoke → Slowking.

  • Obtain: Same as Sun Stone.


  • #### Metal Coat
  • Effect: Evolves Onix → Steelix, Scyther → Scizor.

  • Obtain: Same as Sun Stone.


  • #### Dragon Scale
  • Effect: Evolves Seadra → Kingdra.

  • Obtain: Same as Sun Stone.


  • #### Up-Grade
  • Effect: Evolves Porygon → Porygon2.

  • Obtain: Same as Sun Stone.


  • #### Sinnoh Stone
  • Effect: Evolves many Gen 4 Pokémon (e.g., Rhydon → Rhyperior, Electabuzz → Electivire, Magmar → Magmortar, etc.).

  • Obtain: GBL rewards (rank 10+), Research breakthroughs, PvP battles with friends.

  • Note: Most versatile evolution item; always in demand.


  • #### Unova Stone
  • Effect: Evolves Gen 5 Pokémon (e.g., Pansage/Pansear/Panpour → Simisage/Simisear/Simipour, Lampent → Chandelure, etc.).

  • Obtain: GBL rewards (rank 11+), Research tasks.


  • #### Galarian Mr. Mime evolution items
  • Note: Not a physical item; requires 50 candy and walking (buddy) for certain Galarian forms (e.g., Galarian Farfetch’d → Sirfetch’d).


  • #### Other Evolution Items (via special mechanics)
  • Lure Modules (Mossy Lure, Glacial Lure, Magnetic Lure, Rainy Lure): When used at a PokéStop, they enable evolution of certain Pokémon (e.g., Eevee → Leafeon with Mossy Lure, Glaceon with Glacial Lure, Magnezone with Magnetic Lure).

  • Trade Evolution: Some Pokémon require trading (e.g., Kadabra → Alakazam, Machoke → Machamp) – no item needed, but consumes candy and Stardust.


  • Battle Items (GBL & Raids)



    These are used directly in battle or for accessing battle content.

    #### Premium Battle Pass
  • Effect: Entry to a Raid battle (local or remote) or GBL sets (if you want extra rewards).

  • Obtain: Shop (100 PokéCoins each, or bundles).

  • Use: For Remote Raids (with Remote Pass) or extra GBL sets (max 5 sets per day normally + 3 more with Premium).

  • Note: Can be used in local raids too, but free Raid Pass exists.


  • #### Remote Raid Pass
  • Effect: Join a raid from anywhere (up to a certain distance).

  • Obtain: Shop (100 PokéCoins each, or boxes). Limited to daily use (5 remote raids per day).

  • Use: When you can't physically reach a raid, especially for legendary raids.

  • Warning: Can eventually become free via Research, but mainly premium.


  • #### Daily Free Raid Pass
  • Effect: One free pass per day for local raids (cannot be stored beyond 1 unless you use it).

  • Obtain: Spin a Gym photo disc.

  • Use: Solo or group raids at Gyms.


  • #### Star Piece
  • Effect: Doubles Stardust earned from catches, hatching, and GBL for 30 minutes.

  • Obtain: Shop, Research tasks, level-up rewards, boxes.

  • Use: During Stardust events (Community Day, Spotlight Hour with boosted Stardust), or after activating a Star Piece before hatching multiple Eggs.

  • Synergy: Use with Lucky Egg for massive XP + Stardust.


  • #### Lucky Egg
  • Effect: Doubles XP earned from catches, evolutions, raids, and friendship milestones for 30 minutes.

  • Obtain: Shop, Research tasks, level-up rewards, boxes.

  • Use: During evolution sprees (mass evolve low-candy Pokémon), friendship level-up, or XP events.

  • Tip: Combine with Star Piece for maximum efficiency.


  • #### Incense (Regular & Daily)
  • Effect: Attracts wild Pokémon to your location for 60 minutes (regular) or 15 minutes (Daily Incense – see below).

  • Obtain: Regular: Shop, Research, level-up. Daily Incense: Free once per day from item bag.

  • Use: When stuck at home, walking in areas with few spawns, or during events to increase spawns.

  • Note: Regular Incense moves with you; best for walking. Daily Incense only while moving.


  • #### Daily Adventure Incense
  • Effect: Special Incense that spawns Pokémon for 15 minutes while you walk; has a chance to spawn rare Galarian forms (e.g., Galarian Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres).

  • Obtain: Free once per day from item bag (if present).

  • Use: Daily routine – walk for 15 min to get extra spawns and rare chance.

  • Warning: Rare spawns have very low catch rate and may flee; use Golden Razz and Ultra Ball.


  • Incubators



    Used to hatch Eggs; each has limited uses.

    #### Infinity Incubator
  • Effect: Unlimited uses, but can only hatch one Egg at a time. Hatching time is real-time (no reduction).

  • Obtain: Default, cannot be deleted.

  • Use: Always active; use for 2 km eggs or when other incubators are busy.


  • #### Standard Incubator (Blue)
  • Effect: Holds one Egg, breaks after 3 uses (or fewer for special ones). Hatching speed same as Infinity.

  • Obtain: Level-up rewards (e.g., level 6, 10, etc.), Shop, boxes.

  • Use: Hatch multiple eggs simultaneously.


  • #### Super Incubator (Orange)
  • Effect: Same as Standard but reduces hatch distance by 1/3 (e.g., 5 km egg becomes ~3.3 km). Breaks after 3 uses.

  • Obtain: Shop, special boxes.

  • Use: Hatch 10 km eggs faster, or when you want to clear egg inventory quickly.


  • #### Special Incubators (event)
  • Effect: Temporary limited-use incubators with special features (e.g., half distance) – rare.


  • Lure Modules



    Attach to a PokéStop to attract Pokémon to that location for 30 minutes. Only the person who places it benefits (plus others in range).

    #### Regular Lure Module
  • Effect: Attracts normal spawns to the stop.

  • Obtain: Shop (100 PokéCoins), Research tasks, level-up.

  • Use: At a stop you can sit near, especially during Community Day or events where lures last longer.


  • #### Glacial Lure Module
  • Effect: Attracts Ice-type Pokémon, and enables evolution of certain Pokémon (Eevee → Glaceon, Nosepass → Probopass, Cranidos → Rampardos? No, Cranidos evolves normally. Actually Glacial Lure enables Eevee → Glaceon and also attracts Ice types).

  • Obtain: Shop (200 PokéCoins), Research.

  • Use: Catching Ice-type Pokémon or evolving specific ones.


  • #### Mossy Lure Module
  • Effect: Attracts Grass/Bug-type Pokémon, enables Eevee → Leafeon.

  • Obtain: Shop (200 PokéCoins), Research.


  • #### Magnetic Lure Module
  • Effect: Attracts Electric/Steel/Rock-type Pokémon, enables evolution of Nosepass → Probopass, Magneton → Magnezone, Charjabug → Vikavolt.

  • Obtain: Shop (200 PokéCoins), Research.


  • #### Rainy Lure Module
  • Effect: Attracts Water/Bug/Electric types, enables evolution of Sliggoo → Goodra.

  • Obtain: Shop (200 PokéCoins), limited-time events.


  • Passes & Tickets



    Items that grant access to special events or features.

    #### Raid Pass (free)
  • Effect: One use for a local raid. Can hold only one at a time.

  • Obtain: Daily from spinning a Gym.

  • Use: Participate in any raid tier at that Gym.


  • #### Premium Raid Pass
  • Effect: Same as above but can be purchased and stored (up to 3 in bag).

  • Obtain: Shop (100 PokéCoins each) or bundles.


  • #### Remote Raid Pass
  • Effect: Join any raid remotely from anywhere.

  • Obtain: Shop (100 PokéCoins each, max 3 in bag).

  • Use: Legendary raids when you can't be there.


  • #### Battle League Premium Pass
  • Effect: A Premium Battle Pass for GBL – get extra rewards for winning battles (e.g., encounter reward, rare candy).

  • Obtain: Shop (100 PokéCoins) or same as Premium Raid Pass.

  • Use: If you want more than the free rewards each set.


  • #### Community Day Ticket (paid)
  • Effect: Exclusive Special Research during Community Day events, giving extra encounters and items.

  • Obtain: Shop for $1 (or equivalent).

  • Use: Only if you want the timed research.


  • #### Event Tickets
  • Effect: Access to timed research, special spawns, and bonuses during GO Fest, Safari Zone, etc.

  • Obtain: Shop for real money.

  • Note: Usually not purchased in-game with PokéCoins.


  • Currencies



    Non-physical resources used to upgrade and power up.

    #### PokéCoins
  • Effect: Premium currency. Used to buy items in the Shop (incubators, passes, boxes, etc.).

  • Obtain: Defending Gyms (max 50 per day), direct purchase with real money.

  • Use: Buy item bundles, remote raid passes, storage upgrades.


  • #### Stardust
  • Effect: Required for powering up Pokémon, trading, and purified Pokémon. Extremely important.

  • Obtain: Catching Pokémon (base amount varies by species; weather boost gives extra), hatching Eggs, GBL rewards, raiding, feeding berries at Gyms (small), battling Team Rocket.

  • Use: Power up meta-relevant Pokémon, trade for lucky Pokémon, unlock second charge moves.


  • #### Candy (Species-specific)
  • Effect: Used to evolve and power up that species. Each Pokémon has its own candy.

  • Obtain: Catching, transferring, walking buddy, hatching Eggs, Rare Candy conversion, Pinap Berry bonus, trading.

  • Use: Evolve and power up.


  • #### Rare Candy
  • Effect: Can be converted into any species' candy (1:1).

  • Obtain: Raids (tier 3+), GBL rewards, Special Research.

  • Use: Save for legendary Pokémon or very rare species (e.g., Deino, Noibat).

  • Tip: Do not use on common Pokémon.


  • #### Candy XL
  • Effect: Required to power up Pokémon beyond level 40 (to level 50). Very rare.

  • Obtain: Catching (higher chance with weather boost), walking buddy (for certain distances), hatching Eggs, trading (guaranteed XL for distance trades), converting Rare Candy XL (rare).

  • Note: Only for Pokémon you plan to max out.


  • #### Mega Energy
  • Effect: Used to Mega Evolve a Pokémon permanently (once unlocked, costs energy each time).

  • Obtain: Mega Raids, Field Research tasks, walking with a Mega-evolved buddy.

  • Note: Each species has its own Mega Energy (e.g., Charizard Mega Energy). Once you've Mega Evolved a species, you can later do it for reduced cost if you wait (cooldown timer).


  • Special Items & Key Items



    Unique items with specific functions.

    #### Photobomb
  • Effect: Not an item, but a mechanic: taking snapshots may spawn a Pokémon (e.g., Smeargle).

  • Obtain: In AR+ mode, triggers after many photos.


  • #### Mysterious Component
  • Effect: Used to build a Rocket Radar to find Team GO Rocket Leaders.

  • Obtain: Defeating Team GO Rocket Grunts (each gives one component). Combine 6 to make a Rocket Radar.

  • Use: Locate and battle Sierra, Arlo, Cliff for shadow Pokémon and components.


  • #### Rocket Radar
  • Effect: Shows nearby Rocket Leader hideouts on the map. Consumed after a successful encounter.

  • Obtain: Combine 6 Mysterious Components, or from special Research.

  • Use: Fight leaders to get shadow Pokémon (high potential).


  • #### Super Rocket Radar
  • Effect: Locates Team GO Rocket Boss Giovanni. Only obtained through Special Research (monthly or event).

  • Use: Defeat Giovanni to capture a rare shadow Legendary Pokémon (e.g., Shadow Mewtwo, Shadow Lugia).


  • #### Incubator (Egg)
  • Note: See Incubators section above.


  • #### Adventure Sync: Eggs and rewards
  • Effect: Weekly walking distance rewards (10 km, 25 km, 50 km) give items like Poffin, Rare Candy, Silver Pinap, and exclusive Eggs (12 km Eggs from Rocket Leaders).

  • Note: Not a physical item but a reward system.


  • #### Gift
  • Effect: Send to friends to give them items (Poké Balls, Berries, Potions, Stickers, Eggs). Also gives Friendship XP.

  • Obtain: Spin PokéStops/Gyms.

  • Use: Daily interaction with friends; essential for leveling up friendship and getting XP.


  • #### Postcard
  • Effect: Sticker from a Gift. Can be pinned in your Postcard Book. No in-game effect except for collection.

  • Obtain: From Gifts opened.

  • Note: Certain postcards can be displayed on your profile.


  • #### Stickers
  • Effect: Cosmetic only; sent with Gifts.

  • Obtain: Shop, Research, events.

  • Use: Personalize gifts to friends.


  • #### Poffin
  • Effect: Instantly increases your Buddy's excitement level (max) and keeps it excited for longer. Also gives a temporary boost in CP during battle (if buddy is excited).

  • Obtain: AR snapshot with buddy (if excited already), Adventure Sync rewards (25 km+), Shop.

  • Use: To earn candies faster from walking buddy, or to get a CP boost in Go Battle League (rarely).


  • #### Solar/Lunar/Galactic etc. (Event Items)
  • Note: Event-specific items like “Festival Ticket” or “Safari Zone Ticket” – not permanent.


  • #### Adventure Box / Ultra Box / etc.
  • Effect: Bundles of items sold in Shop. Not an item per se.


  • Storage Upgrades



    #### Pokémon Storage Upgrade
  • Effect: Increases max Pokémon storage by 50 slots.

  • Obtain: Shop for 200 PokéCoins.

  • Use: Necessary if you keep many Pokémon for battling, trading, or collection.


  • #### Item Bag Upgrade
  • Effect: Increases max item bag capacity by 50 slots.

  • Obtain: Shop for 200 PokéCoins.

  • Use: Essential for hoarding Poké Balls, Potions, etc. during events.
