Resident Evil Village – Important Notes
This guide provides critical warnings, pitfalls, irreversible choices, missable content, difficulty spikes, grinding traps, save management advice, and common player regrets. Read this before starting to avoid frustration and make the most of your playthrough.
⚠️ General Warnings & Pitfalls
- Difficulty Cannot Be Changed Mid-Game: Once you select a difficulty (Casual, Standard, Hardcore, or Village of Shadows), you cannot change it until you start a New Game+. Plan accordingly. Hardcore is recommended for returning players; Standard for newcomers; Casual for story-focused players. Village of Shadows is only available after beating the game once.
- Limited Drops from Enemies: Most enemies do not respawn after you leave an area. Resources (ammo, herbs, Lei) are finite per playthrough. Use them wisely.
- The Duke’s Prices Increase: After defeating certain major bosses (e.g., Lady Dimitrescu, Moreau), The Duke’s upgrade prices increase. Buy essential upgrades (like weapon parts or health upgrades) before progressing too far.
- No Manual Save During Combat: The game autosaves frequently, but you cannot manually save during combat or scripted sequences. If you die, you may respawn at an earlier checkpoint. Use the save rooms (with typewriters) to manually save before risky encounters.
- Item Box is Shared: All storage boxes are connected. You do not need to carry everything. Stash excess ammunition, crafting materials, or valuables for later.
- Crafting is Limited: You can only craft ammo, health items, and pipe bombs using recipes found in the field. Do not craft unnecessarily – save materials for emergencies.
