Cheats & Secrets

Cheats & Secrets Guide for Sons of the Forest

This guide covers all known console cheat commands, developer-intended secrets, Easter eggs, and hidden content in Sons of the Forest. While the game does not have a traditional cheat menu, it includes a powerful developer console that can be activated with a simple keybind. Use these responsibly—some commands disable achievements or may break your save if misused.

---

Developer Console Activation

1. During gameplay, press the F1 key (default). This opens an overlay text input box at the top of the screen.
2. Type a command exactly as listed below and press Enter. No prefix (like `/` or `;`) is required unless specified.
3. To close the console, press F1 again or Escape.

> Note: The console works in both single-player and multiplayer (host only). Using cheats may disable progress toward achievements for that session. Always back up your save before experimenting.

Easter Eggs & Hidden Secrets

#### 1. The "Sons of the Forest" Poster
- Inside the Bunker 01 (residential bunker), near the arcade machines, a poster on the wall depicts the original The Forest logo crossed out with "Sons of the Forest" spray-painted over it. A nod to the series.

#### 2. Cat Food Can
- Across the island, you can find cans of cat food. These are a direct reference to The Forest, where cat food was a major food source. Interacting with some cans triggers a small lore note: "Still tastes like chicken."

#### 3. Golden Armor Secret
- The Golden Armor (one of the best armors in the game) is found inside a secret room within the Gold Cave (entrance near the snowy mountain). To access it, you must solve a puzzle involving ascending platforms inside the cave. This armor reduces damage from all sources and glows in the dark.

#### 4. Golf Cart Easter Egg
- Near the maintenance bunker (where you find the shovel), there is a small shed with a golf cart parked inside. It is non-functional but can be pushed around. If you examine the cart's license plate, it reads "ENDNIGHT" (the developer's name).

#### 5. The Secret Ending
- To unlock the hidden “good” ending, you must collect all 10 Golden Cubes hidden in various bunkers and caves. After assembling them on the puzzle platform at the Large Crashed Helicopter site, you gain access to a secret final cutscene that explains the true origin of the island's horrors.

#### 6. Kelvin's Sketches
- If you give Kelvin a notebook (found in the first bunker), he will occasionally draw pictures of things he sees. Some of his drawings contain spoilers for hidden locations—for instance, he may sketch the entrance to the gold cave or the location of the shovel.

#### 7. The Giant Cat
- In the Underground Laboratory (final story bunker), there is a giant stuffed cat toy sitting on a chair. It is a replica of the cat from the game's title screen. Interacting with it plays a faint meowing sound.

#### 8. The Fourth Bunker (Hidden Bunker)
- There is an unmarked bunker entrance buried under leaves near the beach on the east coast. It requires the shovel to dig out. Inside, you find a full skeleton of a giant creature, along with cryptic notes implying the island is a breeding ground for mutants.

#### 9. Developer Room
- Using the developer console command `additem "DevRoomKeycard"`, you can obtain a keycard that opens a locked door in Bunker 02 (the abandoned office). The room contains signed photos of the development team and a plaque reading "Thank you for playing - Endnight Games 2023".

#### 10. Timmy's Hat
- In the The Forest save file import, if you had the “Timmy’s Hat” item in your inventory, a special note appears in Sons of the Forest inside the first cave. This is a legacy Easter egg that acknowledges players who owned the predecessor.

The developer console is a powerful tool for those who want to experiment, but the true magic lies in uncovering the island’s secrets through exploration. Remember that cheating can break story progression—always save before using console commands. Enjoy the hunt!
