Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022) - Character Skills Guide



In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, there are no playable characters with unique skills. All Operators are purely cosmetic. Player abilities are derived from Perks, Field Upgrades, Killstreaks, and Equipment. This guide covers every active and passive ability available to all players, organized by category, with detailed effects, cooldowns, synergies, and recommended builds.

Perks (Passive Skills)



Perks are passive abilities that enhance your soldier. You equip one Base Perk, one Bonus Perk, and one Ultimate Perk. Perks unlock via leveling or completing challenges.

#### Base Perks (1st slot)

Martyrdom(Not in MWII) – none.
Recommended Perk Builds:
  • Aggressive Rusher: Overkill (or Double Time), Fast Hands, Ghost.

Field Upgrades (Active Abilities)



Field Upgrades are deployable abilities with cooldowns. You can carry one, but some streaks give a second slot. Cooldowns vary by upgrade (typically 60–120 seconds).

Killstreaks are earned by getting consecutive kills (or score in Domination, etc.). You can equip three at a time.

Equipment is not a skill but a consumable. You can carry one Lethal and one Tactical.

    In Special Ops, players choose a Class with unique skills:

  • Cold-Blooded + Trophy System: Immunity to killstreaks and grenades.

Advanced Tips



  • Perk swapping mid-game: Use the Gunsmith menu to change perks before respawn.

  • Field Upgrade cooldown reduction: Killing enemies reduces cooldown by ~5 seconds per kill.

  • Killstreak stacking: Calling in a UAV while an Advanced UAV is active reveals enemy direction even through Ghost.

  • Equipment combos: Use Flash + Semtex: flash then throw Semtex at stunned enemy.

  • C4 mobility: Throw C4 and detonate mid-air to damage enemies behind cover.
