Important Notes for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022)
This guide highlights crucial information every player should know before diving into Modern Warfare II. Avoid common pitfalls, understand irreversible decisions, and optimize your experience from the start.
⚠️ Warnings & Pitfalls
1. Installation Size & Storage – The game requires over 100 GB of free space (base install). With updates and DLCs, it can exceed 200 GB. Ensure you have sufficient SSD storage to avoid performance issues (HDDs cause stuttering).
2. Always-Online Requirement – Multiplayer, DMZ, and Spec Ops require a constant internet connection. Campaign is playable offline on consoles, but PC versions (Steam/Battle.net) still need occasional online verification. A disconnect will kick you from matches and may cause progress loss.
3. Microtransaction Trap – The in-game Store offers cosmetic bundles, but many players regret spending real money on items that don’t affect gameplay. The Battle Pass is a better value if you play regularly, but grinding it is time-consuming. Avoid impulse buys.
4. Anti-Cheat Bans – Activision uses Ricochet (kernel-level) anti-cheat. Using any third-party software (including macros, aimbots, wallhacks) results in a permanent hardware ban. Even legitimate overlays (Discord, OBS) are safe, but cheat programs are detected. False bans are rare but possible; always play fair.
5. Account Linking – If you link your Activision account across platforms (Cross-Progression), be careful: some content like COD Points are platform-specific and may not transfer. Unlinking can cause permanent loss of progress.
