Important Notes for Hogwarts Legacy

This section covers critical warnings, pitfalls, irreversible choices, missable content, difficulty spikes, grinding traps, online etiquette/anti-cheat notes, save management advice, and common regrets. Read this before you start or early in your playthrough to avoid frustration and maximize your experience.

⚠️ Warnings & Pitfalls

• Autosave Overwrites: The game has 5 rotating autosave slots. Manual saves are separate but limited (10 manual slots). If you overwrite a manual save with a new manual save, the old one is gone. Use multiple manual saves before major decisions.


• Early Gear Inventory: You start with very limited inventory space. Sell or dismantle unwanted gear frequently. Don’t hoard low-level gear because you’ll constantly find better items.


• Spell Assignment: You can only assign 4 spells to your action set at a time. Early on, you may forget to swap sets. Use the d-pad (console) or number keys (PC) to quickly switch between your four spell sets. Practice this in the Room of Requirement.


• Field Guide Pages: Many are missable if you progress the main story past certain points (e.g., some pages in Hogwarts become inaccessible after the final story quest). Collect all field guide pages before the endgame.
