Important Notes

Important Notes: Warnings, Pitfalls & Insider Knowledge

⚠️ Irreversible Choices & Permanent Progress

  • Hardcore Mode (Java Edition): Death is final. The world is deleted unless you use a backup. Never play Hardcore without regular manual backups.

  • World Spawn Point: Your initial spawn point is set based on your first log-in. If you die without setting a bed spawn, you respawn there. You cannot relocate the original world spawn without external tools (e.g., NBT editors).

  • Ender Dragon Respawning: After the first defeat, you can respawn the Ender Dragon by placing four End Crystals on the exit portal. This resets the End island but does NOT refill end cities – only respawns the dragon for more dragon’s breath or easy XP.

  • Enchanting Table Bookshelves: The 15 bookshelves must be placed exactly one block away from the enchanting table, with air in between. Misplacing them permanently limits enchantment levels until corrected. No refund for bookshelves – you must break them manually.

  • Villager Trading Lock: If you cure a zombie villager, you get a huge discount on trades. But if you trade too many times without curing again, the discounts expire. Re-curing works only once per villager (until Java 1.20.2 re-enabled infinite curing discounts). On Bedrock, cured discounts are permanent.

  • Potion Effects on Death: All active potion effects (including slow falling, night vision, fire resistance) are lost on death unless you have a backup totem. Stock up on potions for exploration, not just for boss fights.
