Important Notes for Phasmophobia

This section highlights critical warnings, common pitfalls, and knowledge that many players wish they had from the start. Avoid these mistakes to save time, money, and frustration.

⚠️ Warnings & Pitfalls

  • Don't turn on all lights immediately. Ghosts have a sanity drain mechanic related to darkness, but turning on every light can also make it harder to find the ghost room (since the ghost tends to interact with lights). Learn to use a candle or flashlight to navigate while keeping sanity.

  • Starting the investigation without a plan. Before entering the building, agree on who carries what (e.g., EMF, UV light, Spirit Box), where to set up cameras, and an escape route. Running in blindly often leads to early deaths.

  • Ignoring the in-game tutorial. Skipable, but actually tutorial covers basic mechanics like using equipment, hiding, and identifying evidence. Replaying it is worth 5 minutes.

  • Using cursed possessions without knowledge. Each cursed object (Ouija board, music box, etc.) has specific rules and consequences. Activating them carelessly can start a hunt early or drain sanity. Read the journal entries or watch a guide first.
