Cheats & Secrets

Overview

Genshin Impact is a live-service online game with no traditional cheat codes, unlock codes, or secret console commands. HoYoverse enforces a strict anti-cheat policy, and using third-party tools, memory editors, or unauthorized modifications is a violation of the Terms of Service and will result in permanent account bans.

However, the game is filled with developer-intended secrets, Easter eggs, hidden quests, and clever world references that reward observant and curious Travelers. This guide compiles all known legitimate secrets that are safe to explore without risk of punishment.

Easter Eggs & Pop Culture References

"This is Fine" Dog

  • Location: Mondstadt, near the fountain in the city plaza.

  • Details: A small dog wearing a pyro vision-shaped necklace sits calmly while a nearby campfire is burning—directly referencing the popular "This is fine" meme. Interacting with the dog does nothing special, but it’s a fun nod.

  • "No Russian" – Liyue Restaurant

  • Location: Liyue Harbor, at the Liyue Food Stall (Liyue’s main street).

  • Details: If you stand on a specific spot next to the grill and look through the window frame, the scene mirrors the infamous "No Russian" mission from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This is a well-known visual Easter egg.

  • Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn

  • Details: A crossover character, Aloy, is available for free to all players who reached Adventure Rank 20 (the event has passed, but she may return). She is a 5-star Cryo bow user. This is a legitimate promotional event, not a cheat.

  • Missing Person Posters

  • Location: Various notice boards in Mondstadt and Liyue.

  • Details: Posters reference characters from other miHoYo games (e.g., Kong from Honkai Impact 3rd, Bronya, or Seele). These are purely decorative.

  • Books with Real-World References

  • Example: The book series "The Boar Princess" and "Legend of the Shattered Halberd" contain subtle references to Chinese mythology and HoYoverse’s own history. Reading all volumes in a set sometimes gives an achievement.

    Hidden Quests & World Secrets

    "Oh, the Humanity!" (Secret Achievement)

  • Trigger: Drop a Defibrillator item (from the Lost in the Snow event, now unobtainable? Actually, the achievement is earned by breaking a specific number of wooden crates and then talking to an NPC. But a more common method: Throw a live bomb baron bunny at a group of Hilichurls and let it explode. Achievement named after the Hindenburg disaster quote.

  • Current Method: Use Amber’s Baron Bunny to blow up a stack of barrels near Hilichurls at the Thousand Winds Temple. Achievement unlocked after multiple explosions.

  • "Where the Sun Shines Not" (Secret World Quest)

  • Location: The Chasm: Underground Mines.

  • Trigger: Find and interact with a lumenstone near a certain rock formation. The quest involves disabling Dark Mud and leads to a hidden chest with a luxurious chest and lore.

  • The "Feather-Winged Serpent" (Hidden Domain)

  • Location: Dragonspine, specifically a cave near the Entombed City – Ancient Palace waypoint.

  • Details: There is a hidden domain called "The Snow-Covered Path" that only appears after completing a series of puzzles involving Sheer Cold mechanics. Requires a Crimson Agate offering. The domain contains a Luxurious Chest and a Frostbearing Tree offer again.

  • Secret Islands (Golden Apple Archipelago – Limited Event)

  • Note: During Version 1.6 and again in Version 2.8, a temporary map called the Golden Apple Archipelago appeared. It contained hidden islands accessible only via waverider or specific wind currents. Many secret chests and puzzles existed. These events are over, but future similar events may occur.

  • Permanent Hidden Islands

  • Location: Liyue – South of the Guyun Stone Forest, there is a tiny island with a single Anemoculus and a ruin guard. It is not marked on the map.

  • Method: Use a Kaeya ice bridge or a waverider to cross the water (requires high stamina or a boat). The island contains a Precious Chest after defeating the ruin guard.

Exploit-Safe Secrets (Puzzles & Interactions)

Hidden Statue of The Seven Effects

  • Location: Starfell Valley, Mondstadt.

  • Location: Inside the Mondstadt Cathedral, on the left side near the organ.

  • Details: There is a small statue of a claymore on a pedestal. Interacting with it does nothing visually, but if you attack the statue with a Geo character (like Zhongli or Noelle), a hidden room opens behind the organ containing a Luxurious Chest.

  • Teleport Waypoint Puzzle

  • Location: Dragonspine – around the Snow-Covered Path domain.

  • Details: There is a Teleport Waypoint that is initially frozen solid. To unlock it, you must melt the ice by using Pyro attacks or a Warming Bottle gadget. This is not obvious and feels like a secret.

  • The "Evermotion Mechanical Painting"

    Miscellaneous Secrets

    Secret Feeding Interaction

  • Details: There is a single pigeon that never moves. If you shoot it with an arrow, a Specialty Dish (grilled fish) will drop from the sky—a reference to the bird being an NPC that steals food.

  • Hidden Namecard Style

  • Details: When you reach Adventure Rank 60, you automatically unlock a special Namecard that is not listed in the Shop. It features a golden border and is a quiet mark of achievement.

  • Teapot Dialogue Secrets

  • Details: Some characters, when placed in the Serenitea Pot, have unique dialogue lines that reference hidden lore. For example, Albedo talks about his synthetic humans, and Zhongli comments on the mining history of Liyue. These lines are only triggered under specific furnishing sets.

    Warnings

  • No third-party tools: Any software that modifies game files, automates gameplay, or injects code will be detected and can result in permanent account suspension. The in-game anti-cheat system monitors for anomalies.

  • Exploits that are patched: Some secrets may have been unintended glitches (e.g., infinite resin bug, item duplication) that were fixed by HoYoverse. Using known loopholes after a patch is considered cheating. This guide only lists developer-intended secrets.

  • Event-exclusive secrets: Many secrets are tied to limited-time events. If the event has passed, you may not be able to obtain those rewards. Do not attempt to glitch into event areas.
